Comedy For A Cause was established in January 2013, by Mathew Wakefield, in the hope of assisting not for profit organisations fundraise in an efficient and entertaining manner.

The idea came about during Mat’s time at 40K Foundation, where he was a volunteer events manager from 2009-2010. In organising a comedy night for them, he quickly realised that given his expertise in comedy, these events could be extremely successful.

Since its inception, Comedy For A Cause has grown at an astonishing rate, hosting hundreds of shows for a huge variety of ‘Causes’ and helped raise over $1,000,000. Given the exceptional calibre of our comedians and our dedication to providing the highest quality service, this growth trajectory isn’t showing signs of slowing any time soon.

Kiama Lions has hosted Comedy for a Cause each year for the last 3 years and we look forward to holding it again next year, with all proceeds going to a local charity. This year in May was very successful once again and Homestead of Hope was the recipient of the funds raised.
